Southern political news,
free-market commentary, history & heritage event links, Donnie Kennedy in a telephone call with your editor, Ron Holland, indicated he is considering challenging Bush for the Republican Presidential Nomination in 2004. Mr. Kennedy stated, " I appreciate the many hundreds of e-mails we have received in the several days following the news report carried by Dixie Daily News and several other Southern news services on our possible political plans now under consideration. We will continue to judge the level of personal and financial support and comments from Southerners, conservatives and lovers of liberty all across the U.S. before making a decision early in 2003 whether to take the next step which would be forming a Donnie Kennedy For President Exploratory Committee." - Donnie Kennedy Should Kennedy Run Against George Bush in the Southern Republican Primaries? For too long, the Republican Party has taken the votes of conservative Southerners for granted at election time and then totally dispensed with their election promises of loyalty and obligation to defend our views of limited constitutional government, Southern heritage and promote our issues after their election victories. This total disregard for Southern culture and views started with now President George Bush, when as a Presidential candidate, he sacrificed our Confederate plaques in Austin for his election campaign. Newly elected Republicans in Georgia and South Carolina are attempting to follow this "Vote & Forget Policy" regarding the State Flag of Georgia and other issues. Now, President Bush and other establishment Republicans have turned their backs on Trent Lott and sold another Republican down the river for one unfortunate slip of the tongue all in the name of politics and political expediency. When will this groveling and sniveling at the feet of the PC crowd end? Donnie Kennedy, author of "The South Was Right", "Was Jefferson Davis Right?" and "Why Not Freedom! America's Revolt Against Big Government" has joined with millions of Southerners who have had enough of all the conservative, Christian citizens of the South being taken for granted by the Republican Party. It is time for the Republican Party leaders and elected politicians at the national, state and local level to keep their campaign promises to the people of Dixie. Maybe it is time to send George Bush and Republican politicians across the South a warning and a message they will never forget? What do the readers of Dixie Daily News think about this idea? - Ron Holland, Editor, Dixie Daily News If you would consider voting for Donnie Kennedy in your state Republican Party primary or caucus instead of participating in another coronation of Bush, send us an e-mail at
Mr Kennedy, of Simsboro, Louisiana, is the former Commander of the Louisiana Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and he is a long-time Southern activist. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from Northeast Louisiana University and is a graduate of Charlotte (North Carolina) memorial Medical Center School of Nurse Anesthesia. Mr. Kennedy and his twin brother James Ronald Kennedy are co-author's of The South Was Right!, Why Not Freedom!, Was Jefferson Davis Right? and an edited and annotated reprint of Rawles View of the Constitution. Donnie Kennedy presently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of The League of the South. Can Donnie Kennedy
actually beat George Bush for the Republican Party Presidential Nomination? 1 - What better way than a threat of a Kennedy For President Campaign to influence the newly elected Republican governors of Georgia, South Carolina and the legislatures of each Southern State to remember the issues of conservative, Christian Southerners of all races who elected them over their liberal anti-South opponents. The politicians certainly remember the State Flag vote in Mississippi and the gubernatorial votes in Alabama, South Carolina and Georgia as well as the election defeats of all the state turncoat representatives on our issues. The threat of a Donnie Kennedy candidacy can help guarantee flag votes by the people in Georgia and South Carolina like no other motivation. 2- Since the nomination of
George Bush as the Republican Party candidate for President is a foregone
conclusion, hundreds of thousands and maybe millions can "for once" vote their
consciences and beliefs without the fear of wasting their vote in a general
election. More important, even more liberal, leftist democrats 3 - His campaign is the prefect medium to promote the conservative, limited government, free-market, Christian issues of importance to millions of voters with no where to go during the Republican primaries. 4 - Federal matching funds to explain Why the South Was & Is Right!" It appears that if he does run and if his candidacy receives around $5,000 in contributions for the primaries from at least 20 states, the campaign will have the opportunity to receive Federal matching funds. I don't know about you, but using Washington Yankee dollars to promote Donnie's campaign and our message has a good ring to it. 5 - If Kennedy runs and wins delegates, the Republican Party may be forced to include Kennedy in any Republican campaign debates not to mention a speaking slot at the Republican National Convention. Donnie, can you condense "The South Was Right" into a 30 minutes speech? If you agree, this is a campaign worth considering, send no money now but send your expressions of support and an endorsement from Southerners and others across "these" United States that it just may be time to Consider Electing A "Good Kennedy" To the White House. Send your e-mail support to: & please include what state you live in. May God Save the South. Ron Holland, Editor of Dixie Daily News Back To:
