the City Council's Prohibition of the Confederate Flag

I urge all readers to follow Jay Mowery's of the LOS & Jim Arnett's of the SCSCV & LOS' CALL TO ARMS!  For Aiken South Carolina 22 July 1 - 5 pm. The SCV, HPA, LoS  and other Southern heritage folks are not going to accept this behavior from  our City of Aiken politicians.  We are going to remember our Confederate veterans at the 100th anniversary of  the erection of the Confederate Soldier Monument in Aiken. Come. Wear your red shirts. Bring your flags. 

Help us show our scalawag  politicians that Southern folks have grit. South on Hwy 1 from I-20 into  Aiken. There is a large grassy area at York Street and Park Avenue. We will  meet under the shade of the trees.  This is urgent. We need Georgia folks, North Carolina Tarheels, and South  Carolina people from the Lowcountry to the Upcountry.  Your duty calls you. 

a.. The 100th anniversary of the Aiken County Confederate Monument in Aiken, South Carolina is July 23, 2001 

a.. The Aiken County Camps of the SCV and the Aiken County Chapters of the UDC will conduct a Monument Rededication Ceremony fo the Monument Sunday, July 22, 2001 

a.. General Joe Wheeler Camp #1245 SCV was denied, by a vote of 4 to 3 of the Aiken City Council, the right to fly the South Carolina State flag, the 1st and 3rd CSA National flags, and the Army of Northern Virginia Confederate Battleflag at the Aiken County Confederate Monument on July 22 and 23, 2001 

a.. The South Carolina League of the South in support of the SCV, picketed the Aiken Municipal Building on Thursday July 12, and Friday, July 13, in protest of the Council's decision

a.. A permit was obtained to block off a street for the rededication on July 22. The permit was expanded to include the hours of 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and to include a possible 500 to 600 participants a.. Demonstrate love and support for the Confederate soldier and the Southern ladies who erected the monument in their honor!

In the meantime, contact the Aiken City Council members and show your displeasure at their lack of sensitivity about Southern history and their stance of prohibiting the flying of our flags at the Confederate Soldiers Monument.  Remind them that we will never forget this action at election time and urge them to reconsider this course of action!.
